What's Your Skincare Routine?

Keeping up with a busy schedule can sometimes rush you out the door in the morning, skip your breakfast, and even sacrifice the essential skincare attention you require to achieve and sustain a healthy complexion. Well, let me help! For breakfast, I will share some yummy recipe ideas in another blog post, but for now, I will explain a basic step-by-step skincare routine for everyone to follow.

Let's begin with a 4-step basic morning skincare routine that is manageable before you wish to add more steps to target specific areas or concerns of the skin (it can go as high as 13 steps). Having a consistent skincare routine will only benefit you with healthier-looking skin. Again, I can't stress enough that sticking to a routine is key.

Step #1 - Cleanser

Cleansing the face is the first step in every skincare regimen, and I recommend a gentle foaming cleanser and cold water for the face. Many skin types can handle lukewarm water, and I certainly am not one of those people as I have sensitive skin that is easily irritated.

Depending on the type of skin you have, whether it's oily, dry, combination or acne-prone, there is a cleansing product specific to the care your skin needs.

Step #2 - Toner

Toner application after cleansing the skin is super refreshing and beneficial. It reduces the appearance of pores, tightens skin, removes oil and dirt, and helps protect the skin from environmental irritants.

Step #3 - Antioxidant Serum

Antioxidant serums are active ingredients applied to the skin to help fight free radicals and correct signs of ageing. It can also brighten skin, help prevent sun damage, correct blotchy skin and soothe irritated and inflamed skin. There are many serums out there, but one of my faves is Vivier C E Peptides which contains a high grade of vitamin C and powerful peptides to reduce the signs of ageing.

Step #4 - Tinted Moisturizer with SPF

This step is non-negotiable! Using a face moisturizer not only feels great, but it also helps protect your skin from environmental irritants, slows down the development of wrinkles and fine lines, and smoothens skin to name just a few. There is a multitude of moisturizers on the market combined with tints to add a natural and light tone colour to the skin and SPF to further protect the skin from UVA and UVB sun rays. No need for additional foundation and sunscreen as the triple combo here saves you time in the morning getting ready and keeps the number of product layers on the skin to a minimum.
